If you’ve never visited the heart of the Klein Karoo, you’re missing out on an undeniable charm. With its unique blend of Instagrammable mountain scenery, quaint small towns and sense of remoteness and tranquillity, it’s a place not quite like anywhere else on earth. Oudtshoorn is one of the aforementioned quaint towns and on a trip to time a race in the area, members of Team #FinishTime discovered the extra layer of charm added to the area by a stay at Pictures Boutique Hotel.
A warm, comfortable environment encapsulates you as soon as you enter Pictures Boutique Hotel and the swimming pool – with its deckchairs and outdoor shower – provides a perfect respite from the pervading heat of summer. The beautiful garden, with its palm trees and colourful flowers, proved to be the perfect antidote to a stressful day of race timing.
The accommodation on offer comprises four individually decorated bedrooms – all complete with a “pictures theme”. An en-suite bathroom and private balcony are also part of each room’s offering. The smallest of the four rooms is 35 square metres in size, meaning that all rooms offer an abundance of space.
Despite our stay being short and work-focused, we have no hesitation in recommending Pictures Guesthouse – and the Karoo as a whole – as an idyllic location for a holiday.
