Over the years, team FinishTime has made a number of trips to Mauritius to time events such as the Vistra Mauritius 100km Cycle Tour and the Vets & Masters Cycle Tour. On some of these trips, race timers have had the privilege of staying at the Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort and Spa.
To call this resort luxurious and well-appointed feels like an understatement. The private suites, which have been designed with absolute privacy in mind, are situated between gorgeous beaches and an abundance of tropical greenery.
On days when there wasn’t registration to be done or races to be timed, our race timers had the opportunity to take advantage of a wide range of complimentary water sports such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling, sailing, glass-bottom boat rides and many more.
The entire resort has been created around the traditional island style for which Mauritius is famous, and it’s no surprise that the resort is a popular choice for weddings, functions and conferences.
Another aspect that sets this resort apart is the fact that there are no less than six restaurants. Our race timers attend themed buffet dinners every night that they are there, and one of the highlights was an eat-as-much-as-you-can sushi on the buffet for Asian night. The deliciously spicy food served on Mauritian night was another meal to remember.
Race timing is hard work, but thanks to the relaxation and luxury offered at Trou Aux Biches, all our race timers emphatically agree that this trip feels more like a holiday than work.
