Swartberg Hotel Prince Albert

On the southern edge of the Great Karoo, you’ll find a quaint town called Prince Albert, and in Prince Albert you’ll find a gem called the Swartberg Hotel. Prince Albert is located about five hours’ drive from Cape Town. This makes it a great stop if you’re doing the drive from the Western Cape to KZN over three days and you’re looking for an easy first day.

The hotel itself is a breathtaking century-old building that effortlessly combines modern comforts with the charm of yesteryear. Each room has a strong feeling of its 150-year history while also exuding luxury and every modern convenience. One of the other factors that our team loved about Swartberg Hotel Prince Albert was the variety on offer. Over and above the standard rooms, there’s also a luxury retreat, tranquil garden cottages and self-catering units. The venue also boasts a spa as well as conference and wedding venues.

While our team’s stay in Prince Albert was regrettably short, the town offers plenty to do, and Swartberg Hotel would be a perfect base from which to explore. From hikes and ghost walks to art galleries and olive orchards, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.

Next time you’re doing a relaxed road trip from the Western Cape to KwaZulu-Natal, we’d highly recommend a stopover at Swartberg Hotel. Similarly, if you’re looking for a unique destination for a holiday, look no further than Prince Albert.
