When visiting Northern KwaZulu-Natal to time a race, members of our team got the opportunity to stay at Shonalanga Lodge in Vryheid. Various factors made the lodge stand out for our team, including the delectable breakfast on offer, the spacious, well-equipped rooms and the fact that our luxury double room offered a workspace. Having a desk is always something our team values, especially if there’s work to be done before or after the race.
Each room opens directly to the outside, which gives the lodge a homely feel and makes it easy to pack and unpack your vehicle. Attractive features like a koi pond add to the well-manicured ambience of the exterior and give Shonalanga Lodge its tranquil atmosphere.
Our room was impeccably clean and the staff were friendly and hospitable. Our team greatly enjoyed the breakfast on offer, which included an array of options including warm dishes, pancakes and fruit.
If you’re visiting Northern KZN for non-work-related reasons, Shonalanga Lodge would be an ideal base from which to explore the battlefields and nature reserves for which the area is renowned. Team #FinishTime would certainly return here if the opportunity presented itself.
